Van Wayne Meeks, 70, of Madison Heights passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018, at the Bedford Memorial Hospital. Born March 25, 1947, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late John Nelson Meeks, Sr. and the late Birdie Maddox Meeks.
Wayne attended church at Oakwood Manor. He was a loving son, brother, cousin and uncle.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by one brother, John N. Meeks, Jr.
Wayne is survived by his siblings, Michael E. Meeks (David Kelly) of Madison Heights, Phillip M. Meeks (Brenda) of Lynchburg, LaNealle M. McPherson (Tom) of Fredericksburg, Janie M. Wilsher (Lee) of Roanoke, Naomi M. Jung (William) of Melbourne, FL, Priscilla M. Jones of Lynchburg, Brenda Lee Meeks of Lynchburg and Sabrina M. Bowyer (Rodney) of Bedford; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted 10:00 a.m., February 1, 2018, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Kirk Farmer officiating. Interment will follow at Jonesboro Cemetery in Roseland.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the residence of Wayne's sister Priscilla M. Jones.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Monelison Rescue Squad.
