Pela was a very dear aunt to me. When I was a little girl in Cuba, having dinner at our house she taught me to clean my lips before and after drinking water while eating and I always do so because of her teaching. When my sister and I left Cuba, she and Juan Manuel openned their house and received us as daughters. We lived happily with them until our parents came. Then we moved to a bigger house where we could live together for two years until we moved to Puerto Rico.I loved to visit her when I went to Texas, and I am glad that I was there for two months last year and had the opportunity to spend more time with her. She used to call me frequently to see how I was doing. I am going to miss those calls. I love you Pela. Siempre te voy a extrañar.

Nina was one of my favorite people in this world. She always knew how to cheer you up and make you realize that everything will work out. Her sense of humor was unmatched and she always found the little things in life to appreciate. I remember when I was 12 I had this video game I used to play and the little character made this funny noise when it ran. She was sitting with me one time, while I played, and she could not stop laughing at the little character. She thought it was the funniest thing. I didn't realize it at the time, but in that moment I really learned to appreciate the little moments. I thank her for that and everything else that she was able to teach me. I find comfort in the idea of her being able to watch over me everyday.
Gracias por todo Nina.
Love, Isa

Pela was more than a very dear aunt to me. When my sister and I left Cuba as children, as part of the Pedro Pan effort, she and her kind husband Juan Manuel opened their house to us as daughters until our parents came 9 months later to join us in Miami. We all lived together happily for two years till we moved to Puerto Rico. They also welcomed many other relatives to their house until they could be on their own.
We were very glad that Pela and her daughter Laura moved to Texas in 1984, giving us the opportunity to be close to them for many years as the only family in town and allowing us to spend holidays and many other dear moments together.
I will always miss Pela and remember her smile, kind personality and positive attitude. I love you Pela and appreciatie all you did for our family.

Pela, as all her friends and family knew her, was a strong, independent and beautiful lady. I had the honor and pleasure of knowing her since I was a boy in Cuba and never saw her mad, speak ill of others or complain about anything. She loved her immediate and extended families deeply and was always positive and happy; even though life dealt her some very trying tests. I still remember her perfect dives into the Caribbean at the pier on the beach where many people in our town spent summers.
I will greatly miss her physical presence but will always remember her in the love she provided and the many grand memories she left behind. Rest in peace dear Pela. Until we see each other again in the presence of God.

My Mom was a very special person in my life. She was not only my Mom but my friend. We shared much and talked daily. It was my honor to be able to take care of her during her final years when she needed a hand. I will truly miss her as she has left a big hole in my heart. I am glad that her suffering is over and I know she is now in a better place. May she rest in peace.
With all my love,
Laura

Loving and knowing Hope (as I knew her)for the past 20 plus years was a wonderful pleasure. She was always in a good mood, sweet smile, and a loving personality. I enjoyed our dinning out celebrations. What fun days. As time went on travel was cut back and we increased phone calls. They included discussing the soap opera Bold and Beautiful.. We had some really good laughs about it. My friend it takes a minute to find a special person an hour to appreciate you and a day to love you but it will take a long time to forget you.
Time has ceased but cherished memories still linger. This is the way of life and all things. Friend Maryann Lind
