Harold "Jack" Barnes, 89 of Midland, Texas, passed away on January 28, 2018.
Jack was born in Irene, Texas on April 5, 1928 to Ed and Lura Lee Barnes. He graduated from Meadow High School in 1946. He was married to Doris Marie Renfro on May 31, 1947. They were married for 60 years. He worked for Clover Lake Dairy in Plainview, Texas until 1950 when he joined Southwestern Bell Telephone in Lubbock, Texas.
Jack was transferred to Midland in 1959 where he worked until his retirement in 1989. He married Shirley Whitehead on February 14, 2009. He enjoyed 'RV'ing, boating and loved jet skiing and was a member of Golf Course Road Church of Christ for 58 years.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
He is survived by his wife of eight years, Shirley; daughter, Terry Keais and husband Chuck of The Woodlands, Texas and his daughter Robbie Helms of Lubbock, Texas; stepdaughter Nita Capell and husband Larry; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation at Ellis Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Meadow Cemetery in Meadow, Texas. His brother in law Bob Reynolds of the Brownfield Church of Christ will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The American Heart Association at 3205 W Cuthbert Ave, Midland, Texas 79701 or to Hospice of Midland at 911 West Texas, Midland, Texas 79701.
