Lt. Col. John J. Lynch

John Joseph Lynch, 80, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, a retired Lt. Colonel and decorated U.S. Air Force veteran, passed away July 1, 2017. He was born November 18, 1936 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma to the late M/Sgt. Marion M. Lynch and Charlotte Lynch. He graduated from Midwest City High School in 1954 and received a BA from Park College in Kansas City. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1981 with 24 years of military service which included service in Vietnam. He married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Joan Larkins, in 1957 at the Tinker AFB chapel. They lived in many states and overseas as they traveled for his military service before settling in Las Vegas. He continued his flying career for another 14 years as a charter pilot. He loved to fly and seized every opportunity to take to the skies. He loved the outdoors, hiking, golf, woodworking, metalworking, and hugging grandkids. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joann, his older Sister Marion of Midwest City, Oklahoma, and his two son's John of Spring Creek, Nevada and David of Oceanside, California. He is also survived by his six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 11 at 8:30 a.m., at Hope Church, 850 E. Cactus Ave., Las Vegas, followed by a memorial and burial service with full military honors at 10:40 a.m. at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, Nevada. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to Hope Church, 850 E. Cactus Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89183.

Just received an e-mail this morning of John's passing. John was such a good person and I know you had a good life together. We in Oklahoma just didn't get to see much of you except when you came to visit. But I did get to come see you once in Las Vegas and have never forgotten that visit. My love and condolences to you, Joan and all your family. Pauline Victory
